Just in time for the haunted season, ‘Monster Love’ tells a story of unrequited love through the dark lens of vintage horror films.
Singer/songwriter Nilagia McCoy says “The lyrics to ‘Monster Love’ are inspired by the Frankenstein and Bride of Frankenstein movies from the 1930s. It’s an unrequited love story, referencing some of the imagery from the movies. It’s about feeling out of step with the world and thinking you’ve found someone who is a good match, but it doesn’t work out.”
McCoy worked with video artist Daniel Ouellette to create a gorgeous, trippy animated video designed to put viewers in the Halloween spirit.
The song is available on the band’s second EP, “Drift,” which was released in July 2021 on Red on Red Records and is available on all streaming platforms.
