HOT HALF DOZEN  2/7/232

From dream rock to Mexicans rock to country western, and several stops along the way, this week had some really good songs and videos submitted.

206 songs and albums submitted this week

Death Wish , single by Havana Winter. Smart, clever, addictive.  Winter has given us a song both to listen carefully to, and just hum along to hooks while you appreciate the sophisticated production. Stream on major platforms.

E&M, single, by Duo Otra.        Keeps you moving with a complex beat, ethereal synths, rhythmic harmonies, clarinets, guitars. A beautiful song beautifully produced. This gone goes on replay. Stream the lyric video, pre-order on Bandcamp.

Never Wanted To Be That Girl, single by Carly Pierce and Ashley McBryde. There is a reason why this song by a female duet won a Grammy – it stands out for story-telling lyrics and tight, inspiring composition with twangy guitars, slides, and subdued drums. Perfect. Stream on all platforms.

Soy Girls, single from Catalina Bayá. It’s a song that pulls you in with a synth hook that almost feels like a question, sparking your curiosity as the Buenos Aires artist illuminates a subtle groove.  Streaming on Spotify. Spanish.

Nada Te Lastima

Persona Favorita con Conociendo Rusia, single/video by Diamante Electrico. I love this duo. They consistently create addictive, listenable rock and this song is a perfect example. It will energize your day and keep you humming. From the upcoming album, Leche de Tigre. Stream it on Spotify and watch for the album. Spanish.

Nada Te Lastima, single  by Valsian and Sidhartha (Jorge Siddhartha González Ibarra ) Dream rock at its finest, only in Spanish,  from the Cuernavaca-based  duo of Eunice Guerrero and Óscar Domínguez  collaborating with Sonora’s romantic crooner. Carries you along like a warm river. Beautiful. On major streaming platforms and YouTube. Spanish
