Harvest, album by BALTHVS. Absolutely beautiful concert-level psychedelia/dream pop from Columbia with twangy guitars, ethereal vocals, and a bass that stands out, but in a very, very good way. The music blends grooves from Turkey, Latin America,  Columbia. Johanna’s bass playing is phenomenal and her voice is like an angle, There is nothing like this band. Most of their music  is instrumental, but the instruments talk to you , along with Johanna and  her angels. Stream on Spotify and major platforms.

Hermanitas in the Rain, single by Lisa Morales. Melodic rock at its best. Storytelling to music at its best. A relaxed country soft rocker that you can’t put down. And then she switches it up and moves you along a little faster, but always in the story. She sings about what mama said. I think mama said stream this on all major platforms.

Common things, single by Binx.  Five and half minutes of heaven. This South African/American songstress/songwriter/producer has assembled an adventure in music that takes you through multiple realities, but you are always here, with your ear next to her lips. You can dance, you can close your eyes and drift away, head bobbing in the breakdown and humming (or howling)the choruses. However, Common Things will grab you and not let you go. Stream on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music.

The Warning on the MTV Video Music Awards

Que Mas Quieres, single by The Warning. No wonder the drummer for The Warning was just named Best Drummer in the World by the Drumeo Awards. Each of the three Mexican sisters of this band are the best, and this song proves the band is at the top of the rock world. A smooth mix of alt rock and metal, the three women grab you immediately and then swing you around the dark side of the moon and bring you back again, unharmed but  not  unchanged. Stream on All major platforms. Spanglish.

A donde va el viento, single by Julieta Venegas. From the get-go, Vanegas sweeps you in with a high velocity guitar, clap  beat, and and hypnotic voice. This song blends alt rock guitar wall with subtle accents and her conversation and then inspiring lyrics. A trip. Stream on major platforms.

Juanita, single by Angèlica Garcia. From East LA of Mexican and Salvadorean parents, Juanita is from her new album Gemelo. It is urgent, anguish, inspiring, hypnotic. She is a creative genius and a musical magician. Put this one on replay and listen carefully. With headphones. Streaming Spotify ad major platforms. Spanish.
