When the song originally came out recorded by Jackie DeShannon and written by Jackie DeShannon, Randy Myers and Jimmy Holiday, it was a welcomed sentiment during the Vietnam chaos. This time around 55 years later, the world is in the worst political disarray and pandemonium than ever before, so a bunch of talented children ranging in ages 6-9 took their own future into their own hands and covered the song once again. Through the years “Put A Little Love In Your Heart” has been covered a millennium of times by everyone from Annie Lennox to Amy Grant to Mr. Spock but never quite like this.
The project was through the minds and efforts of Two Time Grammy winning publisher Tony Mercedes, Eileen Shapiro and Jackie DeShannon herself. It was executed via Tony Mercedes, Verlin Moore, Sean McMillion and more and the video by Marcelo Nine and more, and released on Tribeca Records/ Tony Mercedes Music. However, the real stars of this heartwarming Unity Project is Royal Rose, Nova Starr, Lake Anthony, DJ Kool Kid, Kash Mania, Kanary Yellow and 8 year old rising superstar King Moore. King is not only a singer/rapper/ producer, but a model, actor and fashion mogul as well as a gun violence advocate who was invited to Washington DC to speak for the anti-gun violence campaign in our schools. He has appeared on the Tamron Hall Show, Profiles with Mickey Burns, and will be featured at “Pause TheFor World Peace” celebrating International Peace Day live at Times Square along with Royal Rose and Lake Anthony.
The video shows the children giving water and food to the homeless and just being kind…and enjoying it. These children are setting an example for other kids to follow while realizing their dream and the fact that they can do anything they want to. They are a sweet inspiration reminding the world how to become a better place.
The song itself has been an inspiration through generations. Jackie DeShannon’s exquisite soul and inner beauty pushed the song to the limits. This song lives on in the hearts and minds of the world and the newest generation carries it forward adding a rap and a hook and a colorful texture along with their mega talent.
