Composer/Recording Star Randy Edelman Rock’d It @ The Grand Ole Opry in Nashville TN 10/27/24

World renowned film and TV composer, singer/songwriter, producer and multi-award winning pianist Randy Edelman was honored with the “Legendary Songwriters Award” last Sunday October 27, 2024 at 10th Anniversary of the annual Josie Music Awards which took place at The Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, TN. The 4,372 sold out arena rose to their feet as he entered the spotlight which was then followed by a historic and compelling performance by Edelman that rocked the untouchable legacy of the iconic venue.

Keeping with the Americana theme and with Election Day just around the corner, Edelman first showcased his powerful theme from the epic war film about the Battle of Gettysburg in the Civil War which was written and directed by Ronald F. Maxwell and produced by Turner Pictures. The music score of “Gettysburg” has become a staple in both concerts and events commemorating American history affairs, including the Olympics and NASA‘s documentary “Dare Mighty Things.”

Edelman followed this by his score from “Last of the Mohicans” which earned him a Golden Globe nomination. The movie was directed by Michael Mann and set in 1757 during the French and Indian War. Edelman then performed the theme from his soundtrack “My Cousin Vinny”, directed by Jonathan Lynn and still a significant classic favorite. Edelman concluded his soundtrack medley with monumental and colossal theme from the hit television series MacGyver starring Richard Dean Anderson a secret agent armed with remarkable scientific resourcefulness, and able to solve any problem, using materials at hand.

Edelman’s grand finale was his globally acclaimed hit song “A Weekend In New England” that was covered and recorded by Barry Manilow and became a Top Ten on the Billboard Hot 100 and topped the A/C charts.

Randy’s nearly 12 minute performance on the legendary Opry stage ended with a second standing ovation and a quote from Josie Passantino co-founder and host of the award ceremonies, “He certainly knows how to get people up on their feet”

The Josie Music Awards are the largest, most prestigious, respected and revered awards show and association in the Independent Music Industry. Also performing alongside Randy was chart topping Tiffany, country legends Buddy Jewel and  Neal McCoy, 4X Grammy winner Mr. Talkbox and a barrage of others. The red carpet event was a rousing success and a beautiful experience.

Randy Edelman is responsible for over 100 television and film soundtracks (The Bruce Lee Story, Dragonheart, Ghostbusters ll, The Mask, Kindergarten Coo) and numerous pop song hits including Isn’t it A Shame covered by Patti LaBelle, You recorded by The Carpenters, My Place recorded by Nelly and a vast amount of others. He has just released his newest album “Waltzing On A High Wire” on Tribeca Records and is about to release his soundtrack to the exorcism themed thriller “The Beast Inside” on December 3, 2024 the same day as the film release. You can experience the gift of Randy Edelman’s music live and in person on December 8, 2024 in a one night only solo performance at Carnegie Hall in New York City and at Lincoln Center on June 6, 2025.
