Emerging Indie Artist Mia McIntosh – New EP “My Story”

NEW YORK CITY, N.Y. – [January 27, 2025]: With a voice that’s equal parts classic and contemporary, 18-year-old singer-songwriter and producer Mia McIntosh has released her highly anticipated EP, My Story. This evocative collection of five tracks showcases her remarkable ability to weave deeply personal lyrics with innovative production, creating a soundscape that’s as timeless as it is fresh. The collection of original songs includes her latest single, “Cheating,” from October 25 of last year. This somber, synthy revelation was the second release in a spate of new music from McIntosh while this new release follows the immense success of “ Sunday Morning.” Both singles will be featured on the five-tracked My Story

along with one brand new single that is out now. These latest tracks demonstrate McIntosh’s ability to produce complicated music creating a juxtaposition between dark and moody lyrics and a poppy, charming sound.

“One of my favorite songs on the EP is ‘Best Time of My Life,'” McIntosh shared. “I started it when I was in high school because I was thinking about how people sometimes say that’s supposed to be the peak of your life. I finished it last year because I decided to use it for a school project, and I thought it would be a good way to end the EP!”

The gifted musician has maintained her busy academic life at Boston’s prestigious Berklee College of Music while traveling the world, presently studying in Spain at the renowned Berklee Valencia campus. Mia’s experiences abroad include penning new music in Portuguese, touring the provinces of France on bicycle during summer break and planning a visit to London for her next photo shoot. These adventures have posed new creative challenges for McIntosh and shaped her worldview with each new destination.

My Story is the culmination of three years of writing,” McIntosh explained. “I decided to put the songs in the order of oldest to newest because I want audiences to see the development of my artistry over time.”

Cheating” and “Sunday Morning” are McIntosh’s newest releases since her 2023 single “Stoplights,” an unconventional pop track filled with her signature repertoire of electronic sound. Lyrics written by Mia McIntosh, produced by Tommy Ordway and mastered by Justin Pizzoferrato (Pixies, Dinosaur Jr.)

“‘Sunday Morning’ is one of my most personal pieces yet, and I’m excited to finally be able to share it with you as part of the upcoming EP!” Mia enthuses. “I’m so grateful to everyone who was involved in making this song, and I hope you all enjoy hearing it!”

In addition to releasing “Stoplights” in 2023, McIntosh took some time to sit down with Larry London for an interview and performance for Voice of America’s Border Crossings. In their chat, London and McIntosh discussed finding balance between the demands of her freshman year at Berklee College of Music and a burgeoning music career, her musical inspirations from Paul Simon and Stevie Wonder to Ariana Grande and Olivia Rodrigo, and her creative process. She also performed three of her songs, including “Sunday Morning”

Right now, McIntosh is in her fourth semester at Berklee College of Music and charting a new course with her music career. In August, she began a year-long study abroad program at Berklee’s campus in Valencia, Spain, where she is writing songs and taking inspiration from the city’s vibrant culture and atmosphere. With My Story, Mia McIntosh invites listeners into her world, sharing a journey of growth, heartache, and hope. Her music transcends genres, delivering a powerful reminder of the universal emotions that connect us all.
