Along with announcement, the Brooklynites are to share a music video they wrote and directed for “Uniform“, a song described by the band as “a Nineteen Eighty-Four work-related injury release form, that someone forgot to file.”
Album Bio: “Driving no-frills punk” (Under the Radar) purveyors, TVOD (Brooklyn, NY), are unearthing Party Time, their debut full-length dropping on May 9th, 2025 via Mothland. Building on their previous releases, the album features Tyler Wright‘s uncanny melodic sense and lovingly cranky approach to songwriting/lyrics, complimented by dynamic guitar riffs alongside lush synthesizer layers that elevate the rhythm section’s robust post-punk grooves. And though the album’s title could suggest otherwise, Party Time is more often than not introspective prose heartedly crammed into punk-rock scorchers, depicting the bittersweet realities of the Big Apple’s nightlife scene through blatantly candid commentary, leading to poignant and highly-relatable songs. While grungy rock & roll aficionados will no doubt get their fix along the way, they, too, will shiver to the tune of heart-wrenching tales of deceit, addiction and disbelief, as much as they will grin in connivance as they become more and more acquainted with TVOD‘s sordid humor and charismatic storytelling. Perhaps their most organic work to date, Party Time was recorded live off-the-floor, celebrating TVOD‘s genuine comradery in printing a full reel of clever if unabashed punk music. Lured in by the producer duo of Félix Bélisle and Samuel Gemme, Wright (vocals), along with bandmates Mem Pahl (drums & synthesizers), Micki Piccirillo (bass), Jenna Mark (vocals & synthesizers), Serge Zbrizher (guitar), and Denim Casimir (guitar), drove up to indie mecca, Montréal, Québec, to record at Gamma Recording Studio (Corridor, Population II, La Sécurité). The resulting 11-song essay promises a visceral listening experience, filled with chaotic emotions and sharp humor, capturing the essence of TVOD‘s unique sound.
TVOD on the album, “Party Time is our first full-length album. The songs span the band’s history, most being written in the past year, a collaborative effort from the whole band, while songs like “MUD” and “Wells Fargo” go back to the very beginning, when it was just Tyler. It’s definitely a party-themed album, with a lot of nods to our more light-hearted late nights, but it leans into the darkness of depression, isolation and addiction that partying can bring. Going through heartbreaks, using partying as a way to cope, whether it’s in a positive or a negative way, is up to interpretation. The album has a lot of chaotic feelings of melancholy, nostalgia, longing, pain, euphoria, and self-reflection. In short, it’s hangxiety-induced punk to dance or mosh to. Like taking a shot of tequila and doing cardio. Félix and Sam co-produced our record. We were looking for somewhere to record our album and nothing was really speaking to us, until we heard La Sécurité’s debut, which they produced at Gamma Recording Studio in Montréal. Got a lot of cool textures from different vintage and modern synths Félix brought in, also adding a mini-grand piano for a song intro, as he got us to try things we normally wouldn’t try, whether it be melodically or dynamically. Sam helped a lot in the rhythm department, playing shakers, tambourines and other percussion, and generally made sure we were able to translate some of our more raw or unpredictable moments onto a recording. We recorded the album over several trips from Brooklyn to Montréal, and slept on the floor at Mothland’s office and at the apartment of Turbo Haüs.”

TVOD bloomed into existence in 2019 via a high-energy cassette full of punk songs recorded by Tyler Wright on a Tascam 4-track tape recorder in the basement of a D.I.Y. space he was living in. Since then, the band independently released two EPs – Daisy (2020) and Victory Garden (2021) – along with singles “Alien“, “Mantis“, “Goldfish“, and “Poppies“, as well as two limited run 45’s, Creem Magazine describing their sonic palette as “a nod to traditional post-punk bands like The Pixies as well as newer ones like Dry Cleaning”. Known for their raw, unapologetic and unpredictable stage performances, TVOD have extensively toured the US, Canada and Europe, performing at major festivals like SXSW, Hopscotch, Sled Island, and Concrete Jungle, all the while sharing the stage with acts like Warmduscher, Snõõper, Gustaf, Civic, and Soul Glo. As written by Anna Zanes of Alternative Press, the 6-piece “are elbowing their way out of Brooklyn’s young and burgeoning post-punk scene and into the spotlight, expressive and raw in both stage presence and sonic output”. She adds: “Balancing reflective lyrics with rowdy live energy, TVOD embody the true ethos of punk rock, and never fail to open up a good pit”. To set in motion “one of [New York’s] most exciting up-and-coming bands” (Rolling Stone), Wright handpicked a standout lineup of Brooklyn freaks, and is now joined, both live and in the studio, by: Mem Pahl on drums, Micki Piccirillo on bass, Jenna Mark on synthesizers, as well as Serge Zbritzher and Denim Casimir on guitar duty. Fresh off recording with producers Félix Bélisle and Samuel Gemme at Gamma Recording Studio (Corridor, Population II, La Sécurité) in Montréal, Québec, TVOD are gearing up to release a new single entitled “Car Wreck” on December 3rd, 2024, their first via the Mothland imprint. Highly recommended for fans of alternative contemporaries like Viagra Boys, Fidlar or Jay Reatard, and punk classics such as Gang of Four or Wire.
