Ajii & Wé Ani Release Intriguing New Single/Video

You ever hear a song and immediately think, “Oh yeah, this one’s about to be everywhere?” That’s exactly how I felt the first time I heard “Forget About You”, the latest single from American Idol alums Ajii and Wé Ani. It’s moody, it’s vibey, and it’s got that perfect mix of heartbreak and swagger that makes for a truly unforgettable breakup anthem.

Ajii, who wowed audiences on Idol Season 22 with his genre-blending performances, teams up with Wé Ani, who made waves in Season 21 (and The Voice before that). Together, they’ve created something special—a track that’s catchy, emotional, and full of replay value.

First things first, let’s talk about the production. This song knocks. Producer Alex Poeppel gives us a slick, modern beat infused with what Ajii described as a Jersey club energy, which makes it impossible to sit still while listening. The pulsing rhythm and layered melodies make it one of those tracks that feel fresh but also timeless—you could hear it playing in a dimly lit club, in a car at night, or through your AirPods while staring dramatically out the window.

And let’s not ignore the hook. One day I, I’ll forget about you… It’s simple, it’s hypnotic, and it’s going to be stuck in your head for days. There’s something about the repetition that feels almost therapeutic, like chanting it enough times will actually make the heartbreak fade away. (Spoiler: It won’t, but it will make you feel cooler while dealing with it.)

Ajii’s verse comes in smooth but heavy, setting the tone for the emotional push and pull of the song. His lines—

“I don’t wanna talk with nobody

And walk with nobody

They got nothing on you…”

—hit deep because we’ve all been there. That post-breakup stage where everyone else just feels meh in comparison to the one person you can’t shake? Yeah, that.

Then Wé Ani comes in and completely changes the energy. If Ajii’s verse is sulking in heartbreak, Wé’s is straight-up calling it out.

“As I recall, I was your Barbie doll

Showed me off and all

Blood and all…”

Whew. She snaps in this verse. You can feel the frustration, the exhaustion, the I’m-so-over-this-but-also-maybe-not. Her delivery is sharp and precise, adding a fiery contrast to Ajii’s smoothness. It’s the kind of back-and-forth dynamic that makes you feel like you’re eavesdropping on a real-life conversation between two exes who still have a little too much to say.

And then, just when you think the song has said everything it needs to, that third verse brings both voices together in the most obsessivetoxic, and honest way possible:

“Need you when I’m on that rum

You know I’m one for one

I need you bad like a lung

Baby I don’t breathe for fun…”

It’s messy, it’s dramatic, and it’s real.

It wouldn’t be surprising if this song blows up on TikTok the same way other Idol alums like Francisco Martin have leveraged the app-based platform to reach massive audiences. It’s the perfect mix of earworm melodies and relatable emotions that make songs stick in today’s streaming-heavy world.

Ajii and Wé Ani are proving that you don’t have to win American Idol to win in the music industry. Their voices are dynamic, their chemistry is undeniable, and Forget About You is exactly the kind of track that can catapult them to the next level.

So if you haven’t listened yet—what are you waiting for? Turn it up, sing along, and if you’ve got an ex lingering in your head, well… this might just be the song that finally helps you forget about them.
