Asheboro, NC – Authentic Country Folk Rock group Corey Hunt and the Wise are excited
to announce the release of their highly anticipated new album, The Storm, set for May 2nd,
- The record, a captivating blend of musical styles, marks a significant evolution in the
band’s sound and a defining moment in their career.
Leading up to the full album release, the band will debut the first single, “Run With The
Boys Tonight,” on March 7th. The track is sure to get fans moving with its anthemic, feelgood energy—a perfect prelude to the heartfelt and thought-provoking tracks that will
follow.
A Powerful New Direction
The title track, The Storm, delves deep into a pressing issue in modern America, reflecting
on how highways are slowly eroding the economic heart of small towns. The poignant lyrics
paint a picture of a destructive storm that floods the land, symbolizing the decline of
communities in the wake of industrialization. As the song’s emotional chorus states,
“They’ll say it was the storm that killed us, but they won’t talk about that long before the
rain, we’d already drown,” the track explores themes of loss, resilience, and change.
“This record represents a lot of what we’re about—authenticity, raw emotion, and a real
connection to our roots,” said Todd Allmon, bassist of Corey Hunt and the Wise. “There’s
no heavy production, no session musicians—just us playing our hearts out.”
A Band’s Journey
The Storm marks the first album released with the band’s current lineup, bringing together
their shared musical vision. Unlike previous albums, this collection is stripped down to its
core. With no session players and no polished production, it’s the sound of a band at its
most honest and real, captured in its natural form.
Recorded in Hillsborough, NC
Produced by Christian Hohn and recorded at Sonark Media Studios in Hillsborough, NC by
Eli Webb, The Storm captures the spirit and energy of the band’s live performances. The
album was crafted with intention and authenticity, keeping the raw, emotional connection
of the band with their listeners at the forefront. The album was mixed by Dustin Lohr and
mastered at Independent Mastering by Eric Conn.
Building on Past Success
The band has previously found success with their chart-topping hit “Explain,” which held
the #1 spot for an impressive three weeks. Their music has receivied widespread radio
airplay and millions of streams. In Came You, a track written by two members of the band,
was also released by three other artists and garnered over 10 million streams worldwide.
Listeners will get a chance to hear a new version featured on The Storm.
“Each song we release is an opportunity to connect with our fans, and with The Storm,
we’ve made something that feels even more like our true selves,” said lead singer Corey
Hunt. “We’re excited to share this record with the world and can’t wait for everyone to hear
it.”
