Finnish guitarist Gtarzee (Forth, Waking Iris) returns with a new version of the old Fenno-Swedish folk song ‘Vem kan segla förutan vind’, which is also the first single release from his upcoming “Ducks in a Row EP”, set to be released digitally later this spring. The arrangement, vocals, instruments, and programming of the song are all Gtarzee’s work.
‘Vem kan segla förutan vind’ is a traditional folk song that is well-known in the Swedish-speaking regions of Finland, and it is believed to have originally come from the Åland Islands. The song relates to a theme common in sailor songs – the experience of parting from a loved one.
The track was recorded in Gtarzee’s home studio and mixed and mastered in Ukraine by sound wizard Ilarion Ivanenko. Listen to the single on music services (Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, Tidal etc.) : https://push.fm/fl/gtarzee-vksfv
Vem kan segla förutan vind,
vem kan ro utan åror,
vem kan skiljas från vännen sin
utan att fälla tårar?
Jag kan segla förutan vind,
jag kan ro utan åror,
men ej skiljas från vännen min
utan att fälla tårar.
