102  songs, videos, albums submitted for review

Amantes. Single, video,  by Esteman & Daniela Spalla. A collaboration made in the stars.  Both Eastman and Daniela Spalla are towering figures in Latin music, with 6 billon monthly listeners between them. If you follow “Amantes” in Spanish, you understand that this is a poignant exploration of complex relationships, focusing on a not- really- loved- lover in a way that challenges traditional narratives. If you don’t follow the Spanish, you will tap you toes to the catchy melodies, and hum along.  Stream on Spotify and major platforms.  Spanish.

Dog Days Are Over, single by The Cocktail Slippers.  High-voltage rock ‘n’ roll   that is absolutely unique from the  Norwegian band formed in 2001 This song, and the music the women of this band make in general,  blends elements of garage rock, punk, and pop, drawing inspiration from iconic bands like Blondie, The Ramones, and The Beach Boys, although the song was composed by Florence Welch of Florence and the Machine and Isabella Summers who gave us the music for the movie Frankenstein. .You’ll put this one on repeat.  Stream on  Spotify and major platforms.

Pink Lemonde, single by Rhiannon Rodriguez.  Light and frothy as you would imagine from the title, it moves along like a rainbow skipping over green hills and flowerbeds..  Rodriguez is just breaking out, with her chops honed by performing the music for Netflix’s Spy Kids Ammagedon.  “Pink Lemonade” is the polar opposite of  Spy Kids, showing a remarkable range.   Stream on  Spotify and major platforms.

Seguimos or No, single by Lupita Infante. No cross border music from Mexico would be complete without Lupita Infante’s 2025 release that is pure classical regional Mexican music, but performed so beautifully and richly that it appeals far beyond Mexico. Th Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter blends traditional Mexican music with modern styles, honoring her family’s legacy while forging her own path in this song and all of her music. The granddaughter of legendary Mexican icon Pedro Infante, she has carefully crafted this blend to become a leading figure in the Regional Mexican genre and developed fans worldwide. This song is another  example of why she is so popular.  Spanish. Stream on all major platforms.
