Hearts a Liar, single by Andy Bell with Debbie Harry . From the forthcoming album Ten Crowns, the song chronicles  deep loss.  “You said I’d always be in your heart / Your heart’s a liar liar liar…” But he does it with hooks and with Debbie Harry’s coquettish vocals blending with his.  Both and earworm and an a powerful emotional statement.  Stream on all major platforms.

Pide, single by Carolina Oliveras. The Columbia-born ,Brooklyn-raised singer goes to a Bogata church to sing of  the power of asking, blending choirs and pop in an unusual and very enjoyable adventure between the holy and the confident. Very stylish, masterfully produced, and showcasing her angelic voice, this song has something for everyone.   Oliveras founded the psychedelic band Combo Chimbita, with whom she’s released 3 albums and toured internationally;  this is her second  solo . Stream on major platforms and YouTube.

Otra Noche de Llorar, single by Mon Laferte. Wow.  Laferte holds nothing back in this powerful song from her heart. Norma Monserrat Bustamante Laferte is a Chilean-Mexican musician, singer, songwriter, and painter who blends pop, rock, bolero, cumbia, and salsa  But this song is pure anthem, and pure power as only she can do it.  Stream on all platforms.

Cosa que de Sorprenden ala Audiencia álbum by Vivir Quintana. ( Things that surprise the Audience).  A great tour of Quintanta’s  r powerful voice and socially conscious lyrics blending folk, regional, and ranchera music.  Quintana (born Viviana Monserrat Quintana Rodríguez in 1985 in Coahuila) has delivered  an entertaining but serious collection of 10 songs in the ranchero style that reflect her activist spirit and her unbridled enthusiasm in her music.   Spanish. Stream some songs on Spotify;  full album forthcoming

Hombre Lobo, single by Jessy Bulbo.  Kicking off the tongue-in cheek song about men with her wolf howl, Bulbo moves us along with a soft-rock beat with punk- metal  guitars in he deep background.  Always fun,  this song shows why Bulbo  is hot in the Mexican rock scene  both for her solo work an  as a former member of the punk band Las Ultrasónicas.  Spanish. Stream on Spotify and most major platforms.

Something Sweet, single by Zoelle.     I love this song.  The only English language song on her 2024 Mixtape 13, EP, it  features her  seductive but conversational  vocals scaffold by a  driving 4/4 beat and accented by twangy guitars.  The 17-year-old singer-songwriter-producer  from Playa del Carmen Mexico,  gives us both indie-pop and  rock elements in this song. This and the Spanish songs  This EP shows why she  is considered one of the most promising young artists in Mexico.  Stream on Spotify and most major platforms.
