Mark MK McLaughlin: One Voice, A Whole Lot of Heart

Mark “MK” McLaughlin is not your typical singer — he’s this whirlwind of energy out of Riverhead, Long Island, who sings, writes, produces, teaches, and seems to show up wherever something good is happening. He’s kinda the town’s hype man with a microphone and strong moral code.

The Voice of Riverhead

He first made waves performing “The Star‑Spangled Banner” at Citi Field for the New York Mets and the Barclays Center for the Liberty — not once but multiple times now. He even brought a group of kids along (some with special needs), to let them see a hometown hero shine — and overcame some serious stage fright in the process.

Officially, he represents Riverhead every time an announcer declares “Mark MK from Riverhead.” He carries that with pride — small-town America vibes, y’know?

The Multi‑Faceted Creator

Back in the day he toured as an opener for Flo Rida, wrote music across genres—R&B, soul, hip-hop, pop, tropical—you name it—and even produced scores for films like Bring It On: Fight to the Finish

Then the pandemic hit. His studio shut down, he relocated to Riverhead, and got hit hard by COVID—nearly lost his kidneys. He spent weeks in the hospital. Bouncing back from that, he tells everyone “I proved to myself I could do anything”. And he was serious.

Civic Champ Above All Else

These days Mark’s not just a singer. He’s chief of staff for Assemblywoman Jodi Giglio, chairs Riverhead’s Anti‑Bias Task Force, teaches music at East End Arts, MC’s festivals and fundraisers, and is a pervasive presence in the Chamber of Commerce and local media projects.

The town recognized him as Community Leader of the Year in 2024. People love him ’cause he helps plan Restaurant Weeks, organizes hunger‑relief football meetups (“Huddle for Hunger”), and always shows up with ideas and passion — and no sleep apparently.

The Sound & Style

Mark MK grooves in many styles—he writes and produces everything from tropical pop to sleek R&B. There’s an officially released track with its own music video called “Why Not Us,” and you’ll find him on YouTube posting songs like “TEQUILA TEQUILA” from live festivals around Long Island.

He’s not chasing viral fame. It’s more like he’s building something real—local roots, real events, real connection. He’s the kind of indie artist who does big brand collabs (Target, Belvedere, Northwell), scores films, and gives away music scholarships in his community. Makes you respect that hustle.

Mark MK McLaughlin is the kind of talent that breaks the mold: a singer with chops, an organizer with heart, a guy who survived COVID and came out swinging. He doesn’t do this for the highlight reels—he does it to lift others.

At the intersection of artistry and activism, Mark MK is carving out a spot where music meets community, and that’s rare. If you’re curious about someone who’s got drive, voice, and that inexplicable spark? He’s worth checking out.
