Independent artist, MISS J has released her debut full-length album, ROCKHOUSE — a bold, genre-defying project that reflects her evolution as a creator in a shifting musical landscape.
Written and recorded during a period of deep personal and artistic reflection, ROCKHOUSE merges rock, house, pop, and alternative sounds in a celebration of musical freedom and identity. Drawing influence from a wide range of artists — from The Doors and Joan Jett to Dom Dolla and Becky Hill — MISS J challenges the notion that artists must remain within the confines of a single genre.
“This album was a revelation for me,” says MISS J. “I wanted to make music that makes people sweat on the dance floor and throw their metal horns in the air. Why can’t headbangers and dance kids unite?”
The title ROCKHOUSE emerged during a late-night emotional breakthrough, eventually becoming the guiding concept for the project. The album’s first half leans into gritty rock and alternative pop, with tracks like “OBSESSION” and “NUMBING THE PAIN” offering emotionally charged storytelling and dynamic instrumentation. Songs like “IDGAF” bring in swamp rock energy, while the latter half of the album dives headfirst into classic house rhythms, particularly in the anthemic track “BREAK FREE.”
Inclusivity is a key pillar of MISS J’s artistic vision. Her performances have drawn diverse crowds — united by a shared emotional connection to her music. “Each track is its own world,” she explains, “but they all live in the same ecosystem — The MISS J Experience.”
ROCKHOUSE is as much a personal statement as it is a musical one, capturing the essence of a multi-hyphenate artist who refuses to be boxed in. From its theatrical opening to its dance-floor-ready close, the album invites listeners to embrace every facet of their identity — loud, proud, and unfiltered.
