Wednesday, December 10, 2025 — Latin GRAMMY-winning artist Silvana Estrada has released a luminous performance of “Un Rayo De Luz” on A COLORS SHOW, marking one of her most captivating audiovisual moments of the year. The appearance underscores Estrada’s singular ability to fuse vocal purity, poetic clarity, and emotional depth into performances that feel both intimate and transcendent.
Her COLORS debut arrives amid a wave of major year-end acclaim. Rolling Stone named her album Vendrán Suaves Lluvias the #3 Best Latin and Spanish-Language Album of 2025, placing her just behind Rosalía and Bad Bunny, an extraordinary recognition in a landmark year for the genre. The album was also included in The Line of Best Fit’s, KCRW’s, Spotify’s, and Apple Music’s Best Albums of 2025 lists. “Dime” was selected as one of Pitchfork’s Best Songs of 2025, and she also landed on NPR’s Best Songs of 2025 list.
ilvana says about the making of “Un Rayo De Luz”:
“For me, this is the most magical song on the album. I wrote the verses one afternoon at the piano in my home. It had only been a few months since my best friend Jorge and his brother Andrés had left this earth. I kept having flashes of images that made me cry – I felt devastated and very alone. A year later, Jimena Estíbaliz invited me to do an artist residency with her at Casa Chavela, Chavela Vargas’ home in Tepoztlán. Those days were truly magical and deeply inspiring. We read a lot about Chavela – about her relationship with life and death, with alcohol, with her friends and with love. I remember being in the garden, facing the mountain, as I started playing through some chords. Those verses I had written for my departed friends came back to me, and I truly believe that Chavela’s spirit – and her way of finding beauty even in the darkest places – was with me as I found the chorus and the missing images. She was the one who said: “How beautiful death must be, if no one has ever come back from there…” There were many ideas floating around for the production, but I remember being in Montréal with Daniel Bitrán, the engineer for this album. At the end of our first recording day, we captured this song – just guitar and voice – almost as a placeholder. We never expected it to be the final take, let alone the first one. But it was a magical moment for both of us, and it was immediately clear that this had to be the foundation we would build on. We later brought in Owen Pallett once more to create an orchestral arrangement. In this case, the process was quite open-ended – the only direction was to follow the emotional dynamics of the voice. Back in Mexico, we decided to double the guitar with a muted piano. And even with the orchestra, to me, this song is entirely minimalist.”

Silvana also recently appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on December 3 and closed NPR’s El Tiny series with a spellbinding Tiny Desk performance on October 15, following the premiere of “Flores” on Zane Lowe’s Apple Music 1 show and her appearance on the cover of New Music Daily.
Vendrán Suaves Lluvias features orchestral arrangements by Owen Pallett (Grizzly Bear, Frank Ocean, Lana Del Rey) and contributions from close collaborators including Joe Grass, Robbie Kuster, Sarah Pagé, Edwin Erazo, Daniel Bitrán, and Leo Carmona. Its single “Como Un Pájaro,” nominated for a Latin GRAMMY for Best Singer-Songwriter Song, has earned praise from Pitchfork, Billboard, Remezcla, NPR, VICE, and more.
Following her Latin GRAMMY-winning 2022 debut Marchita, Silvana Estrada enters a new era defined by vulnerability, self-possession, and creative freedom. Her international tour included major headline performances at Webster Hall (New York), Théâtre Beanfield (Montréal), and The Belasco (Los Angeles), bringing her intimate yet orchestral world to audiences across North America.
With Vendrán Suaves Lluvias, Silvana Estrada opens a window into her most intimate world, one that honors loss, celebrates rebirth, and reminds listeners that “the soft rains will come, peace will return, and hope will bloom again.”
