The Big Easy Comes to Saugerties: New Orleans Legend Glen David Andrews Performs at The Local on Mardi Gras
Wear your Mardi Gras finest and join an after-show second line parade!

SAUGERTIES, NY — It’s been a season of deep freezes and winter blues, but the Hudson Valley is about to experience a little heat (and a lot of joy) when The Local brings the spirit of New Orleans to Saugerties on Mardi Gras day. Treme-born legend Glen David Andrews and his band deliver unforgettable Big Easy energy to the venue on Tuesday, February 17 at 7 PM.
The beloved holiday is rooted in the South but celebrated around the world as a day of revelry and music, and Andrews is known for his New Orleans soul, second-line swagger, and powerhouse vocals that shake the rafters. The singer and trombonist was born and raised in the historic Treme neighborhood known for its deeply rooted Creole music culture; Treme is considered to be the cultural cradle of New Orleans jazz and African American history and thought to be the oldest Black community in the United States.
From a renowned musical family (his brother, Derrick Andrews, is a drummer for Rebirth Brass Band and he’s also related to Troy Andrews, AKA Trombone Shorty), Glen stood out at an early age for his commanding presence, powerful vocals, and uncanny ability to blend genres, mixing classic brass band standards, spirituals, funk grooves, jazz, and soul into a swirling musical gumbo.
Over the years, he’s collaborated with New Orleans mainstays The Treme Brass Band, Rebirth Brass Band, and New Birth Brass Band before launching a solo career with his own band. Since then, he’s released eight albums and collaborated with greats like Allen Toussaint, Irvin Mayfield, Delfayo Marsalis, Amos Lee, Ivan Neville, Galactic, Amy Helm, and many more.

To accompany the band’s joyful sounds, visual artist B.A. Miale will set a vibrant backdrop of live visual projections. Following the show, the celebration continues outside for a mini parade (a true New Orleans tradition) right in the Village (weather permitting). Guests are encouraged to wear their Mardi Gras finest, bring a mask and beads, and dress in the traditional purple, gold, and green.
“Glen David Andrews embodies the spirit of a gospel singer, the soul of New Orleans jazz, and the resilience of historic Treme; he’s a living legend, ” says co-founder Danny Melnick.
“The music and spirit of New Orleans evokes an undeniable sense of hope, excitement, and upliftment and this artist delivers all that and more,” says co-founder Isabel Soffer.
