ARTIST NAME / SONG TITLE / AMOUNT OF YOU TUBE PLAYS ON CHART PUBLICATION
1 Paige Kennedy – Open Up Your Mouth (2)
A well deserved no.1 this week from new UK artist, Paige Kennedy. The Sugarcubes meets chamberpop is how we’re hearing this and why not. Every week we hear something amazing and new out of the UK, Paige is this week’s find, without a shadow of a doubt.
2 Anime Girls – Classic Shinji (27)
You know we like it at BOP , noisy , noisy and noisy. Well, this fit perfectly and its great that they do sound as though they are singing in a fishtank
3 Gravy Murphy – It Ought Not Be Fought (25)
Brand new from Melbourne based Gravy Murphy and out now on Metal Postcard. Electronica with foreboding and the the videos got penguins, so we’re hooked. Like some of the tracks off his debut there’s a darker harder Pye Corner Audio thing going on here.
4 Dog Trumpet – With Good Reason (43)
Reg Mombassa and friends (mental as anything) from 2014. It might sound jaunty but the message is clear as a bell.. homo sapiens stop being dicks. We love Reg.
5 The Fruitful Earth – Shake (134)
Don’t know anything about this band except this is what i’d hoped Alabama Shakes or The Kings of Leon would sound like or never did. Super funky acid jazzy rock . If Led Zep had moved to Ibiza this is what they’d have sounded like.
6 Peverelist – Left Hand (250)
The last time we heard Peverelist it was all a bit dour , now its great house tropicalia vibes but making sure to keep to strict on the dancefloor. Great new tune.
7 Moscow Youth Cult – Hospice (395)
Nice little slice of electro pop that won’t change the world, but i still prefer this to 90% of the crud they play on the radio.
8 Gong Gong Gong – Siren (620)
New Beijing band and the best thing out of China we’ve heard since Birdstriking. Bloody marvellous and on constant repeat at Bottom of The Pops. Don’t ignore this you MUST CLICK
9 Wild Youth – Record Companies (898)
1978 Punk rock from Durban South Africa. Wow and wow again, had never heard this before this week. A monster of a 1st gen punk rock 7″.
10 Paul Haig – Chasing The Tail (895)
Now here’s a name you haven’t heard for a while. Yes he of the mighty Josef K and still releasing great music and even better still releasing on Belgium’s Crepsecule. We are going to start paying attention again.
