Single Review: John Vento Delivers Some Of His Best Work To Date
John Vento is one of the most exciting storytellers in the Pittsburgh scene. The frontman for Nied’s Hotel Band is no stranger to high octane rock records, and his solo work is known to hang on the introspective side. On his latest single, “No One Wears a Watch Anymore,” he combines the best of both worlds with innate lyrics and masterful production. Rolling riffs that ooze with the air of Americana surround his raspy vocals as he cuts across the instrumental with precision. Vento contemplates how one can buy time anymore when no one recognizes its true value in today’s society. We are unaware of our entire existence because we choose to focus on trivial matters that consume our time until it is too late to realize what has occurred. A roaring hook delivers this message, and it is some of Vento’s best work to date. This single is off of his upcoming album, Brick by Brick, due to drop in 2021.
