Twilight Muse Releases Live Album

Live albums can be tricky terrain—too polished, and they lose the thrill. Too messy, and they risk falling apart. Twilight Muse’s Collabs: Live at Garcia’s at The Cap largely lands in the sweet spot.

From a production standpoint, it’s clear care was taken to capture the room’s character. “The Mayor” is crisp and cohesive, benefitting from George Porter Jr.’s deep pocket and a tight arrangement. Twilight Muse can groove with the best of them when the moment’s right.

The vocal blend between Pollaro and Shapiro continues to be one of the band’s strongest assets. It’s used to great effect on “Lady Marmalade.” A reminder that live music, when done with heart, doesn’t have to be flawless to be meaningful.
