Today, JUNO-nominated artist, drummer, producer, and composer Salin returns with new single “Prayer For Isara” from the soundtrack of Thai horror movie Tame. In a bull-fighting village in Sukhothai, a girl raised under her grandmother and uncle’s iron grip turns to a sacred shrine, seeking the power to ‘tame’ her own family through ancient ritual and belief, the way wild bulls are broken into obedience, driven by one desperate hunger: to finally be free.
“Prayer for Isara” is the official movie soundtrack of the film, composed and produced by Salin. The thread of freedom (isara in Thai) permeates the soundtrack, taking you on a journey to the North-Eastern part of Thailand, which, in Salin’s view, is the land of the free.
The instrumentation of the song was inspired by a kind of traditional Thai ensemble called the “pi-phat mon.” This type of ensemble would often play during a funeral, something which Salin found to be very fitting for this film.
Salin adds “After I had a meeting with the director, where he revealed the synopsis of the movie to me, I could already hear the melody and lyrics. The whole song came to me naturally and I knew then that I have to compose this song.”
This song is the lead single to Salin’s new EP that is set to be released in 2027.
