Arcade Fire’s eccentric multi-instrumentalist and composer, William Pierce “Will” Butler, released a soothing Christmas jam “City On a Hill,” arriving promptly on time for the holidays.
To recap, Butler is the core member of Northern California-based indie rock band, Arcade Fire, where he plays synthesizers, bass, guitar, and percussion. Separate from the band, Butler is a solo musician where he embraces his diversely instrumental and experimental sides.
“City On a Hill” is a slow-paced, calming melody with soft vocals. The song isn’t exactly the “Christmas spirit” or jammin’ kind of beat. The rhythm is steady and comfortable, and the sound is perfect for a post-Christmas dinner tune or a relaxing time around a fireplace.
Listen to more of Butler’s tracks below! His latest album, “Policy,” which dropped earlier this May, features an eclectic variety of instrumentation, soft-to-high-pitch vocalization, and alternative punk-rock influences.
