Feature Album Review of SoulRepo by Michael Hornbuckle

“Michael’s voice is a soulful powerhouse that closely matched the pipes of Paul Rodgers (Bad Company) as they soar over the blues the band hands out on Virtue and Vice, their most recent release.”

Get your Soul Repossessed by Michael Hornbuckle, the SoulRepo Man

Album Review of SoulRepo, latest release by Bluesman Michael Hornbuckle

Album Review by Joseph Timmons: IndiePulse Music Magazine

Album Available on iTunes, Amazon, CD Baby, or order your physical at http://www.hornbucklemusic.com

SoulRepo, the latest and presently greatest by eminent Bluesman Michael Hornbuckle is a masterful series of audio images into the life of a man that walks the walk and sings the talk of the road, one that is dusty and dangerous, but holds the love and compassion to warm the coldest of hearts. Unlike albums that are just a “plop” of anger and anguish on a black gold platter, the songs are wonderfully mixed into the life story, the living image of a man possessed by his heart, a heart the builds and destroys itself, over and over until, it gets itself right with the world.

Love, Longing and Pain, Birth, Death, Love and Loss, singing the moments that matter with a guitar that weaves itself into your very soul, reminding you the you are not just listening to the album, but experiencing it, becoming part of it, and like the album, spinning in place, waiting for the needle to drop and tell your story in stereo.

Light a Candle for Mary is by far the saddest and most exhilarating song I have heard in years, short and sweet, yet powerful. But the album is more than just one song, all the tracks have their place in your life, Risin Sun, Hit me Up,   Angel, Baby Rock,  Back Seat Blues,  Me and Melody, One Night,  Soul Rep ( title Track), Sweat and the final track Wishin’ Well, each one captures the listener in both the magnificent anguish of the human experience. Each track, another step up, into a slow handed bliss of guitar fed moments that matter.

Get Repossessed by The Blues, feel what it is, to be Alive, to be Human, to be Michael Hornbuckle.

About Michael Hornbuckle

Michael Hornbuckle has been bringing blues and rock music to people for 18 years. Homegrown in the Mile High City, following in the footsteps and the legacy of his father, legendary bluesman Bobby Hornbuckle who had Michael backing him on drums at 13. While Bobby’s journey ended in 96′, Michael took over the torch along with his brother Brian Hornbuckle, noted bass player.

Inheriting his father Bobby’s old Gibson 335, the brothers began working wherever, whenever, and cutting their first recording. In 1998 “Pass The Torch” was released. It’s a raw, respected blues/rock album including; original cuts, covers such as Creams’ version of Outside Woman Blues, and a tip of the hat to the man who passed on his love for blues, with a Bobby Hornbuckle original, Down In The Valley.

Early 2000’s after a Red Rocks appearance warming up the Doobie Brothers, he spent time touring the country with Texas blues monster Vince Converse, and releasing the acoustic blues album Conbuckle Station “Here Come The Blues” on New Shoes Records.

“Lost & Found By Trial & Error” was released in 05′. It was an opportunity to evolve a songwriting style, as well as a defining vocal and guitar sound.

A happenstance meeting in Los Angeles in 2012 with world class Universal Picture music producer, and former member of Mother’s Finest, Alex ‘Ace’ Baker, produced the Album Virtue & Vice.

“Michael’s voice is a soulful powerhouse that closely matched the pipes of Paul Rodgers (Bad Company) as they soar over the blues the band hands out on Virtue and Vice, their most recent release.”

“The songs themselves are nothing short of excellent. One of the best things about this album is that every song is its own experience…

 – Taylor Carlson Rock Over America

In 2015, after an appearance at the Telluride Blues Fest, the Mile High Blues Society recognized Michael by awarding him: Best Blues Band, Best Self-Produced Album, and sent he and his band to Memphis to represent Colorado at the International Blues Challenge.

October 7, 2016 Hornbuckle dropped SoulRepo to the delight of Blues and R&B fans everywhere.
