ARTIST NAME / SONG TITLE / AMOUNT OF YOU TUBE PLAYS ON CHART PUBLICATION
1 Peter Harris – Picnic (2)
Wonderfully evocative little tune and as summer is on the way (eventually) in the the northern hemisphere, we thought this a perfect way to start this week’s chart.
2 Salary – In The Indian Ocean (14)
Another week, another stunning Salary tune, and yes more summer song craft. This is so good it makes BOP cry tears of joy.
3 Dr Octagon – Trees (140)
Is this not the best news of 2018. The Dr is back and we just don’t know which new tune to select .. “The trees are dying, carbon dioxide coming out to you.”. he doesn’t need to come at us from outer space anymore because this new world is weirder than anything the Dr could imagine on his mighty debut. Can we just say .. THE DR IS BACK …..AND WE ARE BEYOND OVERJOYED
4 Peanuts Wilson – Cast Iron Arm (173)
This week’s oldie and what a tune. The greatest rockabilly song ever written. “Don’t mess with me , because i’ve got a cast iron arm”
5 WITCH – Like A Chicken (399)
The finest exponents of Zamrock. This is from 1973… “Baby you look like a chicken..alright…” followed by a guitar solo that just makes you want to swoon. WITCH stands for .. we intend to cause havoc. This band at their height are as good as any in the pantheon of rock n roll.
6 Free Sex Shop – Pretty 3 (451)
They’ve been around for a couple of years now . Four young Chinese women play a great variant of pop punk. Not our favourite genre, normally. But they have a charm that just draws you in. Kudos to them, we say.
7 Deer – Road (629)
Electronic Mexican duo based in Hong Kong cover J pop hit in pitched down style. If that’s not a bottom of the pops selection.. What is…We ask? Bloody brilliant. This should be huge in a fair and just world.
8 Brix & The Extricated – LA ( 618)
It’s alright this . Pop fall is back and the spirit of Mark shines through. She should have sung it in Korean though.
9 Acid Bowie – Track 2 (707)
From a very mysterious 12″ released in Feb. All the tunes can be found on da tube and all are equally great.
10) Tom of England – Be Me (962)
Just discovered Tom of England in the last week. He’s been around for a number of years and we’ve been missing great tunes like this one. His latest is a disco cover of Anarchy in the UK in disco style. We’re in !
