Gary Habenicht & “Danville Road”
Gary Habenicht has been a singer/songwriter for over 30 years. He brings his life experiences to every line in his lyrics and every note on his guitar. His sincere, soft, yet commanding voice takes the listener on a journey to somewhere better.
Gary turns 81 this year and this is his first-ever release on the Gentle Giant Records label of Seattle. This 2 track EP is a look into the mind of a man that has seen both the best of times, and the worst of times, the Rise of Giants and the fall of Kings. “Danville Road” is an audio tribute celebrating the people and the coal mining community Gary grew up around in Ravensdale, Washington.
A Pacific Northwest native, Gary’s first GGR single, “Danville Road,” is a song about his Great Grandfather whom was a coal miner in and around the Cascade Mountain region and is a sentiment of remembrance, the 2nd track “The Boomer” sounds of a hero’s tale, of a humble man, whom gave his all doing what is right, both are amazing stories to be told and heard.
In a measure of tone, much like Pete Seeger, Woody Guthrie and the legends of American Folk Music, Gary Habenicht’s words spark the mind with imagery that speaks to the soul within. As a man late in years his sound is still young, fresh and timeless.
