Dubbed “New Jersey’s Troubadour” and “the total package” by his fans, Gordon’s music fits into the contemporary folk rock, adult alternative, and Americana genres with quiet acoustic songs mixing with more driving, acoustic-electric pieces and even some country flair. Gordon believe that records should have a theme. To that end, listeners will find that Providence addresses the fleeting beauty and trials of life, which are enhanced and enriched by the passage of time.

Providence is filled with illustrative lyrics, gorgeous instrumentation, tales, folklore, introspection, and stories plucked from the heart of our shared journey. In addition to less serious issues, Gordon address gun violence in “How Many More?,” child abuse in “Providence,” and our country’s treatment of Native Americans on the Trail of Tears in “The Cruelest Work.”

Gordon Thomas Ward is proud to have been asked to perform “How Many More?” with other musical artists at the 5th National Vigil for All Victim of Gun Violence at St Marks Church in Washington, D.C., last December where he shared stage billing with Natalie Merchant.

Glen Burtnik, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and former bassist for Styx, praises Providence: “With intelligent, earnest song writing, honest, clear vocals, and precise, acoustic instrumentation delivered with a production that’s pleasing to the ear, Providence is a refreshing, articulate album.”

Providence was recorded in the highest quality at Charlestown Studios, Hampton, NJ, with the extraordinary Eric Troyer serving as engineer, co-producer, and contributing musician. Eric, a founding member of ELO II and keyboardist and vocalist for The Orchestra, has appeared as a session musician and backing vocalist on albums by such artists as John Lennon, Billy Joel, James Taylor, Aerosmith, Carly Simon, and others. Mastering of Providence was done by Grammy-nominated engineer Paul Wickliffe of Skyline Productions, Warren, NJ, and the record will also feature some stellar, contributing performances by a handful of top-notch musicians, including Mik Kaminski, original violinist for the Electric Light Orchestra.

Providence will be available on all of the major platforms where music is sold. Additional information on Gordon Thomas Ward, Providence, and his other work can be found on his website www.gordonthomasward.com.
