Spayed Koolie offers up it’s latest Release Ashtray Change to a fun loving music community that has a fondness for straight forward, R&B / Southern Rock inspired music. Ashtray Change has multiple genre elements including Soul, Funk and 60’s infused Keyboard Rock, in its tracks one will find merriment and joyful prose as well as down and dirty hard life stylings. Spayed Koolie shows their metal in every song as serious contenders to the competitive world of performance artistry, with original composition and their takes on classic rock songs, such as their cover of “Brown Eyed Girl” which gives honors to the original with reverence and Spayed Koolie’s own flavors. the band shows they have much to offer in an album that is as memorable as it is fun to listen to.
Spayed Koolie, an Americana / Country / Southern Rock band from the central Florida owes its namesake to the swing fiddler of the 1940’s, Spade Cooley. The band plays all over central Florida and makes the occasional trip to Nashville.
The band has opened for Montgomery-Gentry, Kellie Pickler, .38 Special, Pat Benatar, Charlie Daniels Band, and other national acts; it will open for Brantley Gilbert among others at the Runaway Country 2018 event in March. Founded by lead singer and songwriter David Dorr, the band has been performing for seven years in arrangements including duo (most often), trio, 4-piece, and 5-6 piece when opening for name acts or playing at well-attended festivals.
The band’s instrumentation includes acoustic and electric guitar, bass guitar, percussion, fiddle, and the occasional keyboard, banjo, or mandolin. The band’s first professional single release, “100 Years (Need)” and their cover of Van Morrison’s “Brown-Eyed Girl” can be found on iTunes and Amazon digital music.
