ARTIST NAME / SONG TITLE / AMOUNT OF YOU TUBE PLAYS ON CHART PUBLICATION

1  Adderall Canyonly – B5 the B4 (5)

Wonderfully wonky electronic track that somehow reminds of of a wind blowing through the forest of Sasquatch. Don’t ask where that all came to mind but it did. Very cool track off a great new album.

2  The Gluts – That’s  Me (7)

Post punky sort of white noise thing with a Cold Cave vibe about it. I’d imagine there’s lots of strobing going on at their gigs.

3 The Modern Institute – Molten Gold(50)

More cold cavey vocal stylings but this one comes with some early DFA release aesthetic stuck to it. If i was in Sportsgirl and this came on my ears would prick up and might force me to ask the shop attendant what the song was. Of course, they’d be clueless.

4  Art Brut – Wham ! Bang ! Pow!  Let’s Rock Out (116)

Art Brut .. they’re back and we still love them. Nothing really changes with this lot but they still make us smile. In  this one …..Art Brut go to a party and craziness ensues.
5  Woven Skull –  Chantelle (82)

This is a couple of years old now but its wonderful stuff. My private psychedelic reel as the Chemical Bothers once said . Could listen to this all of the day and all of the night.
6  Bubble – Bubblegum  (108 )

On the comp …”Discophilia Belgica : Next-door-disco & Local Spacemusic from Belgium 1975-1987″. Mad Belgian boogie electronica disco. Odd and on the mark. Now we see where Soulwax got it from.

7  Bysts – Killing An Arab  (215)

Every decade or so births another re-imagination of this Cure classic. None are as ever as good as the original but the song is so good it’s  impossible to trash it . This is rather good.

8 Joyful Talk – Monocult  (254)

As a decade passes since the peak of DFA we hear lots of new outfits using them as a base for their sound. Here’s another one .

9  The Orielles – It Makes You Forget (Itgehane) (293)

Summer is coming in Sydney – and this suits perfectly as the city starts to slide into swimming, sea, sun etc.

10  Tallawit Timbouctou – Chebiba (784)

New from Sahel Sounds ( can we say that Chris of Sahel is quite possibly the most amazing human being in  today’s music industry, along with Eric of Mississippi they are releasing music that actually changes how we all think about music and art..) Tallawit Timbouctou are champions of takamba, a hypnotic traditional music from Northern Mali. Built around the tehardent, the four stringed lute and pre-cursor to the American banjo, takamba’s droning distortion comes from signature handmade mics and blown out amplifiers. Accompanied by percussion pounded out onto an overturned calabash with mind boggling time signatures, the combined effect is trance inducing.

Because as we know, there are known knowns; there are things we know we know.

We also know there are known unknowns; that is to say we know there are some things we do not know.

But there are also unknown unknowns – the ones we don’t know we don’t know.
