IndiePulse Music Artist Spotlight: Angie Joseph

Angie Joseph is the co-leader and singer/guitarist from the duo ‘Under The Skin’ and a Francilienne artist. Beginning in 2018, she is frontwoman for her rock band ‘October Rain’ and she is active as a solo artist.

After many years in different bands and rubbing shoulders with artists such as the Gathering, Shakaponk or Fatals Picardy, Angie is moving forward with new projects, bolstering the courage to mbark on new adventures exploring unknown paths

Motivated by the desire to break from the comfort of sharing writing and in search of new horizons, she is reaching into the depths of drawers and into the corners of her mind for songs of the past and emerging with new songs. She is encouraged by her friend, Tarah G Carpenter (Tarah Who?), who participates, hitting the drums for the project. A new EP is coming scheduled for release in June 2018

No need to ask questions … the sound is raw, simple, effective, no frills, minimalist …it is rock, it’s pop, it’s alternative rock.

A good dose of energy served by a powerful voice and carried by relentless melodies on catchy guitars.

We can hear the influences of P!Nk, Queens of the Stone Age, Tool, Skunk Anansie, Brody Dale, Radiohead …, many artists who have made the musical universe of Angie …

IPM: What inspired you to write music like you do

My daily life. We are surrounded by stories, emotions, energies. Sometimes emotions create an energy that I want to put in music. Sometimes a music vibrates like a color that gives birth to a text and then a song… there is no recipe.

IPM: Tell us about your creative dynamic and if you work with other artists on your recent creations.

I write alone. I record every instrument at home. On this EP I’ve worked, for the drums, with my friend Tarah G Carpenter who lives in Los Angeles. She’s recorded the drums when she was in France. She’s the one that pushed me to make this EP and I make some graphic design for her band Tarah Who?, and she is also a really good friend. We’ve made one rehearsal before going in studio to define her part. It’s really easy to work with her because we are almost the same. We have recorded with Thierry, which is also a really good friend and a really good drummer. He’s going to play drums on stage.

IPM: What are or were some of the challenges for you in producing or performing while keeping true to your vision of your music.

It’s the beginning of the project, so there is no challenge as I made this project because I wanted to go back to my roots as a musician, maybe the struggles will come for the next one, but I still have ideas to explore with this vision. we will see in 5 years maybe.

IPM: What are some of you performance plans for the coming year?

The first gig of this project is on December 1st! Everything is new, I work with my light engineer Bertille to create a unique atmosphere on stage, it will be great.

IPM: Any Albums coming out soon or shows you are looking to promote

The EP has been out since September… and the 1st gig on December 1st . More things are coming next year. New videos, new sound, more gig…

IPM: Any “strange tales” or things that may have happened during a show that seemed too weird to be true?

Years ago, when I was singer in a band we were playing for a biker’s party and I’ve seen just in front of me a couple, fucking! right in front of the stage/me while we were playing! they were sooo drunk!! So maybe they were just trying to fuck.. but, hey! come on, it’s the same!

IPM: Where do you see your music going, where would you like to be in the near future, goals, dreams and passions?

Everything is to be done… I would like to bring this project as far as possible. I hope a lot of gigs all over the world.

IPM: What would you like our readers to know about you.

I really try to make more than just a gig… I want to take people with me and bring them into my bubble. I want to make them feel disconnected from their life or job for a moment and just enjoy and forget everything that suck in their life.
