EP Review: Chords Of Eve “Dear Engineer”

 As the future becomes more and more sophisticated, so does the entirety of music as a whole. More and more music is featuring electronic sounds forming the instrumental and voices that have a soothing tone with reverb and distortion sprinkled around them. Chords of Eve is capitalizing on these elements and bending them in new ways that no artists have been able to do before. This has culminated in the group’s debut EP Dear Engineer. The self-proclaimed “music project” of a band is spearheaded by multi-instrumentalist Atlas Cage and features Casey Ardmore among a myriad of other female vocalists. Songs like the title track allow the vocalists to breathe and let the lyrics speak for themselves with synthesizers complementing the tones well, and then there are tracks like the intro and first single (out on Feb 28th) “Brightside” where distortion is utilized heavily. Moments like these also display Atlas’ knowledge as he brings in some amazingly crisp instrumentation to emphasize the digital sounds that surround it. No matter how long this project lasts for, Chords of Eve is lining up to do something special with this first release! The EP comes out on April 10th.
