Exclusive interview with Kendra & The Bunnies

Hi Kendra & The Bunnies! Thanks for being here today!

Thank you so much for inviting me to interview!

Who are your main musical influences?

My main music influences are Janis Joplin, Britney Spears, Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, Animal Collective, and Z-Ro.

What do you enjoy most about being an artist?

I love feeling the emotional details of life. Seeing the world and reality through my own creative lens creates a powerful and telling story for me through my art and writing. Each moment and conversation is transcendent, as it becomes fuel for my next project.

Of your own music, do you have a favorite song? If so, which song would that be?

That is such a good question. I go through phases of preferring one song of mine over another. It alternates. Right now, my favorite released song of mine is “Well Toiled Routine” off of the album “of Thank You”. Then my favorite new song is “So Hollywood”. I actually just recorded that two days ago at Hyde Street Studios in San Francisco. I am here recording my new full-length album titled “of Consideration”. I love SF!

How would you describe your music?

My genre is folk-rock, pop, Americana that draws on the influences of alternative and classic rock. I also have a very crooning new school blues approach. I sing from my soul, and it’s deep. My lyrics paint a picture through storytelling. I aim to transport people into the ‘surrender of now’.

If you were to create a band, who would you choose as your bandmates?

I am actually in the midst of forming my core band members. So far, Kendra & the Bunnies is composed of me (Kendra Muecke, lead vocals & rhythm guitar), T-Roy Berry (drums, percussions), and Trent Berry (lead guitar). This is the group featured on my new San Fran recordings, and we are all really gelling in the groove.

How often are you writing or creating new music?

On average, about 5 new songs or song ideas a week. I have about 50 song ideas in the chamber, and about 15 fully written songs and poems that are in the developmental period. Everything inspires me to write. An exercise that I am working on right now, is writing from a super positive place. Everything in life is good, and I want to start reflecting that in my music. I am so deep and thought-provoking, so to move that into a lane of pure joy is interesting!

If there were a movie made about you, what would the title be?

“Chasing Rabbits” or “Reaching Center” are good working titles. The actual title I’ll keep secret! *wink*
