Jesse Roads to release a new album and short film

Recorded at one of Canada's most iconic live music venues. AVAILABLE EVERYWHERE APRIL 30th, 2021

Based in Red Deer, Alberta, he has developed a diverse sound inspired by genres such as folk, blues, indie, and alternative music. Fans of artists such as Neil Young, The Gaslight Anthem, Fleet Foxes, City and Colour, and Bob Dylan are certainly going to connect with the immediacy of his songwriting and his passion for authentic storytelling.

Recently, Jesse has been busy working on new music, and he spent the past few months working on his upcoming studio album with a special twist. This exciting record is not a traditional studio album but a live performance, captured on track and on video. Jesse had the opportunity to record at the well-known Rose & Crown venue in Banff, Canada.

This is the city’s oldest pub and one of Canada’s most iconic live music venues. It has seen hundreds of thousands of people, stories, hopes, dreams, heartbreak, and everything in between. For a songwriter whose style is deeply based on poetic lyricism and musical storytelling, it is easy to see why this was an excellent choice. They say that when music is recorded, you don’t just capture the artist; you capture some of the magic of a specific environment. With the pandemic putting a stop on live music and even most conventional studio sessions, this album stands as a stark and powerful reminder of how important it is to get out there and perform.

Today, the curtains have closed on many pubs and venues because of the COVID-19 pandemic, making Jesse’s choice of recording live in an unconventional setting all the more meaningful. Each song is going to be available as an audio track, as well as on video, capturing the soul of the venue, as well as Jesse’s heartfelt performances.

The album features ten songs, including three previously unreleased originals from Jesse and a cover for good measure. It is a disarmingly honest portrait of a musician who is arguably extremely passionate about his work and music. Whether he’s performing with a loud band or simply sitting on a chair with his trusty acoustic guitar, he is always able to capture that same emotional intensity.

This upcoming release stands as a testament to the fact that you don’t need the decibels if your heart is in the right place! A quiet acoustic performance can be just as soaring and immersive as a full-band piece, and every track on this record is an excellent, fierce, and dynamic example of Jesse’s artistry.

The album is going to be available soon on all major streaming platforms as well as a Video Premiere Concert Special.
