Cole Soileau

Preface: Last name is pronounced (Swallow).

Being a DJ in general, I hear a lot of music. Being a radio DJ, even more-so. With the radio station in play you can only imagine how many music submissions I receive and, a lot of times, I am just completely blow away at the talent that’s out there. Cole, is no exception to that. The music instantly drags you in with a mix of hardcore grunge as well as hip hop and, soft electronic undertones… only to blow you away with his amazing vocals.

Battles, is now in post-production and the album (Cover Art On The Left) Will be released once that is finished.

We’ll be happily spinning his songs “Tear Me Up” and “Set It Off (ft. Colt Ryan)” on the underground show this first week of June. Judging on what I heard… Will he be on the “Best Of July” show? – Time will tell. I asked, Cole who some of his bigger influences are, “Do you have all day? To name a few hahaha… Nirvana, Linkin Park, Cuppkakke, Lil Peep, Mullatto, Billy Eilish (and Finneas of course), Highly Suspect, MGK, Green Day, Lil Uzi Vert, Polo G, Radiohead, Modsun, Avril Lavigne is hella fire…omg don’t get me started on Youngblood”

One thing that I’m always interested in, when I sit down and chat with artists is, what their defining moment was that they knew that they wanted to be in music… What was that moment in time for you?

Um, tbh, when I was like 7-8 years old I discovered the game “Rock Band”, which at the time was totally fire and I would so go back and play “Rockband 2” again if I had the chance LMAO, but furthermore… I really fell in love with the drums and so, by the time I was around 9 years of age I thought it would be a good idea to enroll in some drum lessons… which inevitably led to me discovering certain interests in this industry and certain talents/activities like gigging and thing’s like that. I’ve always had an all-around appreciation for music and just experimenting with my emotions in the process of writing while conveying them to a lovely audience.

What motivates you? Not just in your music but in your normal life as well.

As strange as this sounds, I would honestly say death inspires me to keep going…because no one wants to die and suffer doing something they hate, but also it’s my followers, future fans, and the people that I actually potentially help with my music that I would be letting down if I didn’t do anything ya know? Not to be arrogant in anyway of course, I guess I kind of feel obligated to want to give people an outlet to their anger, trauma, and daily recurring misery that I often find myself trapped in. I guess I find it fun to turn tf up instead of letting your problems consume you entirely…if I have to put it bluntly.

I am personally on a mission to get good music heard by everyone. What is one thing that bothers you the most about trying to come up in the music world today and, do you prefer being underground or, is the mainstream something you strive for?

Personally, I don’t see anything wrong with the underground besides maybe associating it with a limited audience, but that’s where a lot of really good artists come out of that I have vastly appreciated and been influenced by like Noiseheads, Pandoras Bliss, The Wipers…Dude fucking Kurt came out of the underground haha… but you see these bands, at least some of them start to aim for mainstream success and they actually end up getting it.

For me PERSONALLY, I would always try to hit for the biggest audience possible (the mainstream) to bring light to the underground similar to how Kurt did in the 90’s or maybe even Lil Peep tried to do. If I had to pick one thing that bothers me about this industry and trying to come up in it is definitely how cut-throat it can be and how many people want to put the screws to you once they see you start to shine and they see your potential.

In Closing – shout out to Jordan Alexander and Wes Matthews for allowing me tools to my sound, I love you guys, and everybody else involved that has helped me along the way!
