The Dockers release charming new single ‘I Knew him (well?) Horatio’

After the release of their debut EP ‘Yahtzee’ and follow-up singles such as ‘Gypsy King’, ‘Ljubljana Lights’ and ‘Wonderful’, Australian duo The Dockers release their new single ‘I knew him (well?) Horatio’ from their forthcoming second EP.

Kicking off with a ukulele lead line, it’s not long before airy piano melodies and dynamic beats join in the mix to create a buoyant soundscape. This track will make listeners want to skip along the street as The Dockers whistle in their headphones.

This charming track features dark lyrics which highlight the temperamental state of our human condition and encourage listeners to bring those low thoughts to a high in a whimsical 3 minute and fifty seconds of bliss.

The song touches on the suicide of a few close friends followed by an existential crisis with a strong motif of Shakespeare’s ‘Hamlet’. The Dockers say of the track: “It’s an existential crisis, dark, but sheds a lot of light on that it’s temperamental. Definitely the best song I‘ll ever bloody write.”

Sydney based duo The Dockers began their musical career first by learning guitar and bass, before they began singing. They came to the conclusion that there was an element of dance missing from their peers and set out to change that. Muz & Louis met when working as lifeguards together, and when they’re not drinking coffee and charming elderly women, they make funky tunes and seek to bring those good vibes out there.

Possessing a deep sense of irony and surrealist sense of fun attributed to snack bar sugar and chlorine, the band are currently recording and playing gigs all over Sydney. They’ve headlined stages and played sets at Red Bar, sold out Factory Theatre & La La’s Wollongong twice, generating a ground swell as their EP has now hit over 80,000 streams in total. The future looks bright for this lifeguard duo who are uplifting listeners through their hearty tunes.
