Ya Know, It’s Hard Out Here For a Pimp.

Natalac (Sheldon M. Davis) is an American rapper, singer, the owner of Natalac Records and, Natalac express which is a trucking company.

If you’re looking for quality entertainment, you don’t have to look far. Natalac not only delivers in a semi-truck but, through the microphone as well. The new album, “Love & Pimp-Hop” is set to release on June 20th, 2021 and, is just another in his impressive collection of albums to date.

“Positive vibes” is just one of an extensive 226 video library that is supported by over 2,300 subscribers on Natalac’s YouTube Channel – The ever-expanding library of videos is an impressive collection of songs, concert snippets and, Vlogs expressing his commitment to making his community a better place for everyone.

Having been featured on B.E.T., Worldstar Hip-Hop, Ace Magazine, Stardom 101 and, numerous other publications, Natalac is no stranger to the spotlight.

He is made famous by his records: “Step Daddy”, “Respect My Pimpin”, “Ain’t Nothin Like a Pimp That’s Pimpin” and, “Pimp Of The City”. In addition to his records, he has performed with various artists such as, Benzino, La Chat, Project Pat, Eldorado Red, Kokane & Suga Free just to name a few.

An interesting tidbit is that Natalac is the only rapper to have made a music video, in a real bank, during business hours, with his own money. After that… You know damn well I had to interview this Pimp.

One thing that I’m always interested in, when I sit down and chat with artists is, what their defining moment was that they knew that they wanted to be in music… What was that moment in time for you?

When I made my first break-out political hit Fire in Florida about the dis-infringement of the Florida votes in the 2000 presidential election between then Vice President Al gore & Governor George Bush.

Do you mix and master yourself or do you have an engineer or a producer that works with you?

I want quality so I have my own team that has experience but, my ears make the last check before it goes out. That’s what an Executive producer does.

What motivates you… Not just in your music but in your normal life as well?

I love to win. Meaning the struggle of doing what other million dollar companies do and competing with them… similar to David and Goliath. I love that.

I am personally on a mission to get good music heard by everyone. What is one thing that bothers you the most about trying to come up in the music world today and, do you prefer being underground or, is the mainstream something you strive for?

The only thing that bothers me is, too many rappers lying. They throw fake money around that they’ve bought with real money. SAF… then they go back to the hood still in the projects with their mama and wonder why they getting robbed or worse. If you got it, you must know how or make a way to keep it. Cause it takes money to protect yo money & if you ain’t got nothin you cant protect what you dont have… i think the most stupid video i ever seen was a rapper i wont name got all these expensive cars and girls in his video but after the video he asks me for a ride home.. wtffffffff and the video girls threatening him cause he short… lololololol .. and mainstream or underground idc I get in where I fit in.

Who, musically, is one of your bigger influences?

Old-School 70’s music but after 30 years in my own lane of pimp-hop, I work with whoever I want to so, others are influenced by me now copying and such but I don’t trip… sometimes rappers get writers block and no longer inspired and rap becomes a job instead of a blessed gift of gab.

One question that I like to ask artists is, how did Covid affect your music in particular and the music scene in your area?

It affected most rappers like even lil boosie cause he relied on doing business on instagram so when mark z cut him off like trump he needed it back cause its money to be made once you gain enough followers and they wasn’t doing shows so if you didn’t have another stream of money you went broke or borrowed from the mob or some shhh.. i even think Ericka badoo set up a go fund me page i think for a minute. me I’ve been taking care of my parents while they are ill fighting cancer. but as a real us marine and work horse like i am you just gotta make it happen… i took a loan out on my biz and spent it on keeping my companies straight till my parents and covid over.. no sweat.. NO FAKE PPP LOANS HERE.. lol

I, myself, personally think that there’s too much social media out there to keep up with. I understand why it’s necessary but there’s a ton of it out there. What are your feelings on social media and music today?

The internet, period, messed the real money up and got dudes with 360 deals lying to keep fans… for instance.. I used to sell 50 cds at 20.00 a piece to make 1k but now 50k streams on Spotify pays 200.00 bucks so I know these entertainers lying unless they made other ways to get money.

Do you create music often? When can we expect another release?

My new album, Love & Pimp-Hop featuring Benzino, Suga Free, La Chat, JT Money, Mr Mince etc. will release June 20th 2021 on my dad’s birthday.. I love my big guy..(My DAD) but, this stage 4 cancer thing scares the Hell outta pimpin. But my faith staying in GOD. But I usually drop a project every 2 to 3 years.

What tips or advice would you give someone that’s just starting out in the music game?

Build your brand and be yourself. Do your thing cause that’s what an artist does, creates art! Don’t do it for the money. Do it cause it’s in you. If you wanna make quick money learn how to play stocks and crypto currency. You wanna create music, don’t copy rather, create yourself and it’ll be beautiful.

Thanking, Natalac for an awesome interview. He wished to send a shout-out to all of the Natalac music lovers out there because, after 30 years of making music, he knows he has a little spot in your heart.
