Sarantos Offers Tasty New Single “A Spoonful Of Greece” (Review)

Sarantos is back with yet another tasty offering of imagery and clever instrumentation on his latest single; “A Spoonful of Greece.” On the surface, this is an explorative narrative of the wonderful things Greece has to offer, almost a travel guide to Greece, Sarantos uses his keen observation and storytelling abilities, however, to paint a bigger, broader picture of the wonders of Greece. Presented as a flirtatious introspective, “A Spoonful of Greece” offers a visual cue through the lyrics which excites the listener and adds the appeal of this theme. “Thought I’d throw something out into the world to make you fantasize about what you’re going to be doing this summer” As travel and leisure activities are restricted, the imagery and fascination of sandy beaches and exotic foods still appeal to many, Sarantos just brings this closer to home which gives this track its appeal. Utilizing dynamic chord changes, and tempo modulations, Sarantos crafts a track that is interesting, captivating, and quite sophisticated. As a complement to his previous releases, “A Spoonful of Greece” is a contrast to the satirical, witty, and often pessimistic approaches to his songs, which creates an artist with many facets and potentials.

Accompanied by a stunning, colorful video, “A Spoonful of Greece” offers a sexy, and provocative side of Greek culture and landscape. In the typical Sarantos fashion, the majesty of Greece is highlighted by the seductive nature of the beaches and the sunny climate which makes this land so intriguing. “A Spoonful of Greece” would be an excellent addition to any commercial Middle of the Road, Adult Contemporary, or Pop radio format, however, with its wondrous nature of lyricism and symbolism, “A Spoonful of Greece” could be licensed to a tourism board or to film for documentaries or videos of Greek culture and appeal. This is a highly enjoyable track that requires many listens, as Sarantos offers many little nuances which give this track its appeal. And, as a complement to the rest of his catalog, this narrative, and the descriptive track really showcases the observant and descriptive nature of his writing.
