ellakate Releases Upbeat Alt-Pop Track “Dry”

The “Dry” music video drops on July 21, ahead of ellakate’s debut EP launching in the Fall.

Atlanta, GA (July 14, 2023) – Rising Alt-Pop artist ellakate just released her new single, “Dry,” on Friday, July 14th. The song will be followed by its music video release on July 21st. This new track was inspired by feeling burnt-out, numb, and indifferent. ellakate hopes to connect to listeners with her emotionally powerful lyrics and driving, catchy melodies that offer a sense of euphoria. Both “Dry” and “I’m Yours,” which ellakate released last month, will be part of an upcoming EP slated to launch in August. 

ellakate explains that “Dry” is a song she wrote while experiencing an intense burn-out. The artist was inspired to write lyrics such as “Trekking through the desert hoping for some angsty weather,” while she was simultaneously juggling school, work, and athletics. “Dry” confronts ellakate’s lack of motivation and her craving for her ambition back.

“This song is about the vicious cycle of exhaustion and feeling numb. “Dry” conveys the internal frustration I have from not being able to dig myself out of that hole. I love the fusion of lively instrumentals juxtaposed by lyrics that express my fatigue.”

Ella Greenbaum, artistically known as ellakate, is an alternative pop singer-songwriter born, raised, and based in Atlanta, Georgia. Growing up with musical parents and a knack for creating and performing, ellakate found a passion for music that went beyond forcing her brothers to listen to her melodies as a child. “When my dad first explained what the song ‘Brandy’ by Looking Glass was about, I discovered the magic of storytelling in songwriting. I have been singing and making up songs for as long as I can remember,” said ellakate about her innate talents.
