HOT HALF DOZEN 9.12.23

All over the map this week. From the new Stones song, “Angry”, to ZZ Ward’s huge new album to a new single by ChicoChica. All great listening

123 songs, albums, videos submitted

Angry, single by the Rolling Stones. By now you know the Stones are releasing a new album soon. Here is the first song and its…angry, as only Mick Jagger can do it.  Actually, a little restrained and melodic for the Stones – a preview of things to come. Stream on all major platforms.

Mucha Mujer, single by Maria Raquel. Deeply emotional, stunning beautiful. Takes you into the heart of old Mexico but with  the brilliant color that Marin Raquel brings to music. With a classical a quartet behind her, she entices and hypnotizes.  Stream on Spotify. Video on YouTube. Spanish

Frank Sinatra Platinum, album by Frank Sinatra. A celebration of the 70th anniversary of Frank Sinatra’s Capitol Recordings  with newly remastered audio and rare and previously unreleased tracks.  If you are one of the 14 million Spotify fans of Frank on Spotify, you will keep an eye out (or set an alert). Available  October 27, so watch for it.

De Vivier Nadia Se  Salva, single/video by Chicochica. I love this song. It just floats you away while you tap your feet or even dance. Juan Galeano of Diamante Eléctrico and Fer Casillas come together to reimagine the Latin American sonic experience and it is hypnotic. Stream on major platforms. Spanish

Dirty Shine, album by ZZ Ward.  This is a big, rich, diverse album. ZZ is  a tremendously talented woman and this album showcases all of her different moods, methods and music, from driving rock, to screaming talking  blues, to just plain wild (like her shows). If you are a ZZ Ward fan, you must have it. It you are not, this will make you one. Stream on all major platforms.

Paper Planes, single by Kris Angeles. Beautiful, sensitive, insightful, poignant. A song about her father that is a joy to listen to and to hear – and Angelis makes you do both. A jewel worthy of a Grammy. Stream on Soundcloud and Spotify.
