HOT HALF DOZEN 9.19.23

The Latin Grammy’s announced the noms sthis week and two of them were HHD recommendations, so I am bring them to you again – long with 3other nw songs nd a full-length video

135 songs, albums, videos submitted this week

Donde Se Llora CuandocSe Llora?, single by Francisca Valenzuela. Nominated for a Latin Grammy, if you missed this song the first time I recommended it, take a listen now. This song will grab you with its urgency and the feeling that she is singing to you alone. Powerful, beautiful. Stream on major platforms. Spanish.

Leche de Tigre, single by Diamante Eléctrico. Another Latin Grammy nominee I recommended when it first came out, this song rocks along with a complex beat, wild but controlled guitars,  and rhythmic lyrics that hold you. Stream on major platforms. Spanish.

Universe K23, long form video by Kenia OS.. This is more a work of art than a song or music video. Kenia O has produced a 29 minute long animated and live action adventure into worlds unknown, but with plenty of dancing and singing.  Watch on YouTube/Vivo. Spanish

Penelope (live)  single by Draco Rosa.  This is a musical trip, taking off from the original 1996 recording, Draco has teamed up with Tommy Torres and produced a remastered version of his concert in the Puerto Rico Coliseum. Drum loops, acoustic guitar, a sax solo and charming, ocals. Stream on al major platforms and YouTube.

Solid Ground, single by Gaby Moreno.  A county tune with a kick, Solid Ground calls out for the stability we all want and never seem to find. Moreno bring a wink, a beat, and some great guitar – as always.

Bloom, album by Binx. Bloom is a new BINX – and the same time it is the music of our familiar pop queen. Eight songs on this, her 5th studio album,  some solidly in her pop groove with that vocal curl her South African accent allows her to add.  And some are completely different. “Maid of the Mist” and ”Swans” push her envelope, while “Bloom” is a familiar pick- up -your- feet- and -dance song she does so well.  Stream on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon, YouTube Music.
