Pandora-Fest, Musical Magic is born of Woman in Dun-Carron

PandoraFest Logo

On July 16 2016, Pandora-Fest will host the very first female-positive Music Festival.

At Dun-Carron, the Medieval Fort in the Carron Valley of Scotland, the power of women in music, if not the goddess herself will take festival goers to new heights in profound musical talent. In its debut year, Pandora Fest aims to celebrate women artists of all genres and give them a larger platform in the festival scene.

Pandora-Fest will be the only women’s music festival in Scotland. Boasting an impressive multi-genre roster of both Scottish and International artists, the event will showcase rock, dance, folk and world music, among other genres.  Of course, we must stress – this isn’t a women-only event and is family friendly. The festival puts women’s musicianship center stage, bands are composed of both sexes, and you will see guys in the bands and in the audience but all bands are women lead and are perfectly blended in skill and quality of musical prowess.

Why the title Pandora-Fest, legend states that Pandora was entrusted to care for a small chest, told never to open it, she was a girl who did what she wasn’t supposed to do, she broke the rules, opened a box and released all the trouble, demons, dangers and hate into the world, she tried to reseal the chest, but it was too late, however the last to leave the chest was Hope, Faith, Joy and Love. Since then Women have been the guardians of said emotions, and today, it is a driving force in Women’s Music.

Pandora-Fest has more genres covered than you can “wave a kilt at”, featuring a global range of talent: from Californian Electronics artist Contain Her to the catchy prog-pop tunes of Texas singer Erin Bennett to the haunting tunes of Australian forager Emaline Delapaix. Newcastle Electro-pop outfit Twist Helix are Spanish fronted, whilst the music of internationally acclaimed Dutch singer Mathilde Santing whom earned herself a knighthood from the Queen of The Netherlands in 2007 will grace the stage. Attendees will witness Africa’s mystery and the powers of Voodoo are evoked by new rock/crossover sensation Vodun; the Indian sitar is given a whole new expression by the art of Poulomi Desai.

Scotland will be well represented by, among many others, the rock outfit Bravado, Wolf Ruby, all-female funk band One More and pop singer Caroline Gilmour. Courtesans will headline their “head down, dark rock” supported by a powerful set of London allies; Heel, Bugeye, Luci Monét, Sofia B and Firesign, there are more artists and performers to witness, but the festival will be a “must see” event, and I can’t divulge all of the secrets that will be revealed in the magical land of Scotland.
